Editorial standards
Who we are, how we are paid for, and the rules that keep the reporting independent of the money.
Ownership and funding
Humanoids Daily is published by PA Creative AB, a company registered in Sweden and owned by its founder and editor, Pontus Armini. It has no outside investors.
The site and the weekly newsletter are free to read. They are paid for by sponsorship and advertising, sold directly to companies in robotics and AI and to the agencies that represent them. Some of those companies are also companies we report on.
Independence and sponsored content
Sponsors buy space, not coverage. Paying for a banner, a newsletter slot or a sponsored article does not get a company into our news reporting, and it does not keep a company out of it, including when the news is unwelcome.
Sponsored articles are labelled as sponsored at the top of the page and are written for the sponsor. The sponsor may review them before publication. Our news articles are never shown to the companies they cover before they are published.
When a news article covers a company that is a current sponsor, we say so in the article.
How we report
We do our own reporting. We interview the founders, engineers, researchers and investors building the industry, attend its conferences and trade shows, and ask companies directly about claims we cannot confirm from public material.
We work from primary sources wherever they exist: company announcements, regulatory and stock-exchange filings, patents, research papers, conference talks and interviews. We link to them so readers can check our work.
A press release is a starting point, not a finished story. We check its claims against other sources where we can, and say plainly when a claim comes only from the company making it. Demonstration videos are described for what they show, including whether a robot is teleoperated when that is known.
Much of the industry is in China, and many of our sources are in Chinese. We translate them ourselves and link to the original.
We honour embargoes we have agreed to.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research, transcription, translation and first drafts. Every article is checked against its sources and edited by a person before it is published, and the named author is responsible for what it says.
Corrections
When we get a fact wrong, we fix the article and add a dated note at the end saying what was changed. We do not quietly rewrite reporting. Spelling, grammar and formatting fixes are made without a note.
