Xiaomi Debuts CyberOne V2 at Investor Day, Moving Beyond the Factory Floor
Xiaomi Reports 90.2% Success Rate in Humanoid "Internship" at Beijing EV Factory
Sweating the Details: Xiaomi Unveils Upgraded CyberOne Hand with "Bionic Glands" and Full-Palm Touch
Origins and corporate structure
Xiaomi set up a robotics business unit inside its smartphone division in 2021, releasing the CyberDog quadruped that August and the full-size CyberOne humanoid — 177 cm, 52 kg, 21 degrees of freedom — in August 2022, with CyberDog 2 following in 2023. In April 2023 the work was placed in a separate legal entity, Beijing Xiaomi Robot Technology Co., Ltd., capitalised at 50 million yuan, with Xiaomi senior vice-president Zeng Xuezhong as legal representative and Xu Duo, appointed general manager of the robotics unit in March 2023, running it. In June 2024 the company relocated into Xiaomi's electric-vehicle plant in Beijing's Yizhuang district and took state capital: Beijing Yitang Chuangxin, a vehicle of the district investment arm Yizhuang Guotou, became a shareholder and registered capital rose to about 55.56 million yuan. No cash amount was disclosed. The unit is one of the robotics firms clustered in Beijing E-Town, and it is a shareholder in the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.
Technical approach
The programme's control stack is built on Xiaomi-Robotics-0, a 4.7-billion-parameter vision-language-action model the team open-sourced in February 2026. It pairs a pre-trained Qwen3-VL-4B-Instruct backbone with a diffusion transformer that generates action chunks by flow matching, and Xiaomi reports 80 ms inference latency and 30 Hz control running on a consumer RTX 4090. Hardware work has concentrated on manipulation: a redesigned bionic hand cut volume by roughly 60% to human scale, raised degrees of freedom into the 22–27 range and added evaporative cooling to manage motor heat.
Deployment
Xiaomi's validation route is its own production line rather than customer sites. In March 2026 the company reported a 90.2% success rate over a three-hour autonomous self-tapping-nut installation run at the Beijing EV plant, inside the line's 76-second cycle time. A second-generation machine appeared in April 2026, handing out gift bags at Investor Day. In August 2026 a new-generation CyberOne, about 1.70 m tall, was shown at the World Robot Conference after roughly four months of factory training, and on 3 September 2026 the robot made its overseas debut at IFA in Berlin, where Xiaomi said the nut-fastening success rate had risen from about 90% to 98% over that period.
Commercial position
CyberOne is not for sale, and Xiaomi has published no price, specification sheet or release date for the current generation; the company denied reports of imminent mass production in March 2025. Lei Jun has said Xiaomi expects to deploy large numbers of humanoids across its own factories within five years, which makes internal manufacturing demand, rather than third-party orders, the near-term measure of the programme. For now its public record consists of pilot metrics and trade-show appearances rather than shipments, and the assets that distinguish it from venture-funded humanoid developers — an in-house EV plant to test in, component and supply-chain depth, and a published foundation model — are the parent's as much as the unit's.
