Figure Sets Date for Full Reveal of Next-Generation Humanoid

SUNNYVALE, CA – After a week of cinematic build-up, humanoid robotics company Figure has put a name and a date to its next creation. In coordinated posts on X (formerly Twitter), the company and its CEO, Brett Adcock, announced that the "Figure 03" will be fully unveiled on Thursday, October 9.

The announcement was accompanied by a slick, computer-generated video (watch it at the end of the article) showcasing the robot's design in detail, moving beyond the obscured silhouette seen in teasers just yesterday. Adcock made a characteristically bold claim, stating he was "Excited to unveil on Thursday the best humanoid robot the world has ever seen."

A Closer Look at the Figure 03 Design

The new teaser video provides the first detailed look at the Figure 03, revealing several intriguing design choices. The robot sports a sleek, grayscale aesthetic with minimal purple accents.

The head of the new model is marked '003', confirming its place as the successor to the Figure 02.

Key features highlighted in the animated showcase include:

  • Fabric Skin: The robot's body appears to be covered in a form-fitting, grey mesh fabric, suggesting a focus on both aesthetics and the protection of internal mechanics.
  • Advanced Hands: The hands are depicted with a glove-like covering, featuring what appear to be integrated touch sensors across the fingers. A small camera is also clearly visible in the palm of each hand, hinting at advanced object manipulation and feedback capabilities.
  • Articulated Feet: A profile view of the robot walking reveals a unique foot design with a hollowed-out arch and a distinctly articulated toe section, a feature also seen on Tesla's Optimus, which could improve balance and create a more natural gait.
  • Inductive Charging: The heels of the feet are clearly marked with "Inductive Charging," suggesting the robot can recharge wirelessly by standing on a compatible pad, simplifying its deployment in continuous work environments.
  • Modular Appearance: The video concludes by cycling through several different "outfits" or external shells for the robot, suggesting it may be designed for customization for various work environments.

The head of the robot is simply marked "003," confirming the model number that succeeds the Figure 02 platform currently deployed in a pilot program at a BMW manufacturing plant.

From Hype to Hardware

This latest announcement provides concrete details following a cryptic campaign that began earlier this week. As we reported yesterday, Adcock had been teasing a major reveal, stating, "This week, everything changes." The confirmation of an October 9 date brings that anticipation into sharp focus.

While the new video is entirely CGI, it sets high expectations for the physical hardware. The focus on integrated sensors, advanced hand mechanics, and practical features like wireless charging signals Figure's ambition to create a robot that is not only functional but also suited for working alongside people.

The robotics industry will be watching closely on Thursday to see if the real Figure 03 lives up to its polished digital counterpart and the grand proclamations of its CEO.
