What the company builds
Figure AI, Inc. develops general-purpose bipedal humanoid robots and the learning system that controls them. Three hardware generations have appeared since the company was founded in 2022: F.01, which took its first steps in May 2023; F.02, which integrated the battery into the torso and improved hand dexterity; and F.03, which the company says was reworked for home environments with a softer exterior and a more compact build. Figure develops its robot intelligence in-house. In February 2025 CEO Brett Adcock said he had decided to leave the collaboration agreement Figure signed with OpenAI a year earlier, citing an internal breakthrough on end-to-end robot AI. The company's vision-language-action stack, Helix, reached its second generation on 27 January 2026: Helix 02 introduces a learned whole-body controller Figure calls System 0 and drives walking, balance and manipulation from a single network, demonstrated in a four-minute autonomous dishwasher unload-and-reload.
Manufacturing
Figure brought assembly in-house with BotQ, announced in 2025 with a first-generation line the company said could build up to 12,000 robots a year. In an update dated 29 April 2026, Figure said BotQ had delivered more than 350 third-generation robots and had raised throughput from one Figure 03 per day to one per hour. We subsequently reported the 1,000th F.03 coming off the line in July 2026, and Adcock's stated plan to remove Chinese suppliers from the bill of materials.
Deployments and demonstrations
The reference deployment remains BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, where an F.02 fleet worked sheet-metal loading before being retired; We reported in June 2026 that F.03 returned to the plant for logistics sequencing. Figure has also announced a commercial agreement with Catalyst Brands — the JCPenney and SPARC combination — beginning at a Reno, Nevada distribution centre. In May 2026 the company ran an unedited livestream of F.03 units sorting packages that tracked past 200 hours and roughly 250,000 packages.
Capital and exposure
Figure raised $675 million in a Series B in February 2024 at a $2.6 billion post-money valuation, with Microsoft, the OpenAI Startup Fund, Nvidia, Bezos Expeditions, Parkway Venture Capital and Intel Capital participating. In September 2025 it said it had exceeded $1 billion in committed capital in a Series C at a $39 billion post-money valuation, led by Parkway with Brookfield Asset Management, Nvidia, Macquarie Capital, Intel Capital, Align Ventures, Tamarack Global, LG Technology Ventures, Salesforce, T-Mobile Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures. The company remains private and has not filed for an IPO. In November 2025 its former principal robotic safety engineer, Robert Gruendel, sued in the Northern District of California alleging he was fired after warning executives about robot impact forces; Figure said he was terminated for poor performance.
Position
Figure is among the most heavily capitalised Western humanoid developers, competing with Tesla, Agility Robotics, Apptronik and 1X on deployments, and with Chinese volume manufacturers such as Unitree and AGIBOT on unit output. Adcock, who co-founded Archer Aviation and Vettery, has also started a separate AI hardware company, Hark, while remaining Figure's CEO.
