Unitree reported third-quarter revenue of 665 million yuan, up about 70% year-on-year, as growing sales were accompanied by a sharp increase in research spending. Net profit attributable to shareholders fell 17.4% to 112.7 million yuan in the company’s first earnings release since its August listing, Reuters reported on October 28.

The results offer a more concrete measure of Unitree’s expanding business than its widely shared robot demonstrations, while showing the cost of developing the technology behind future products.

  • Third-quarter revenue reached 665 million yuan, up roughly 70%, while attributable net profit fell 17.4% to 112.7 million yuan.
  • R&D spending rose 249.6% to 127 million yuan, equivalent to 19.1% of quarterly revenue.
  • Nine-month profit grew 270.5%, but that comparison benefited from a large one-time share-based payment expense in the prior-year period.

Sales growth meets a bigger research bill

Unitree’s quarterly profit came in below the 224 million yuan analyst forecast cited by Reuters. The company remained profitable, but earnings did not keep pace with its expanding revenue.

The R&D increase means spending was roughly 3.5 times its year-earlier level. According to Reuters, Unitree directed more resources toward embodied-intelligence models, computing capacity and its research team.

Using the reported figures, attributable net profit represented approximately 16.9% of quarterly revenue. That calculation helps put the earnings result in perspective: Unitree is generating profits, even as a larger research bill weighs on their growth.

Why the nine-month comparison looks different

For January through September, revenue rose 55.7% to approximately 1.82 billion yuan, while attributable net profit increased 270.5% to 386.7 million yuan.

Unitree attributed the profit increase to higher gross profit and a large one-time share-based payment expense recorded in the comparable 2025 period. The headline growth rate therefore reflects both business performance and a lower comparison base. It should not be read as a similar acceleration in recurring earnings.

Beyond the robot videos

The release follows Unitree’s warning about commercialization and valuation risks after unusual share-price gains. Its recent H2-X martial-arts demonstration has also kept the company in the spotlight.

For the robotics industry, the revenue growth is significant, but it is a company-wide figure covering a business that produces both humanoids and quadrupeds. It is not a standalone measure of humanoid revenue or evidence that customers have established profitable uses for every machine sold.

The next question is how increased investment in models, compute and engineering translates into useful capabilities and repeat customer demand. This quarter demonstrates substantial sales growth alongside the expense of pursuing that next stage.
