What the company builds
Skild AI sells robot intelligence rather than robots. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, the company develops the Skild Brain, a foundation model it describes as "omni-bodied" — one set of weights intended to drive quadrupeds, humanoids, wheeled platforms and industrial arms rather than a policy fitted to a single chassis. Deepak Pathak is chief executive and co-founded the company with Abhinav Gupta. The company says it has offices in Pittsburgh, the San Francisco Bay Area and Bengaluru.
Technical approach
Skild's argument is that generality comes from training pressure rather than per-robot engineering: the model is exposed to thousands of simulated bodies so that it must adapt at inference time instead of memorising, an approach the company calls "multiverse" training. That line began in locomotion, with LocoFormer, an in-context locomotion policy released in 2025. In August 2026 Skild published S1, its flagship manipulation model. S1 is prompted with a single video demonstration and runs with frozen weights, and Skild reported a 66% average step-success rate on unseen tasks of up to ten minutes against 9% for a language-prompted baseline. Skild has not released S1 weights, an API or a paper.
Commercial traction
Skild AI said it reached about $30 million in revenue in 2025 and became profitable that year. The company has said its model is being tested in security and facility inspection, last-mile delivery, warehouses, manufacturing, data centers and construction. In February 2026 it opened an office in Bengaluru, and in March it said it would work with ABB Robotics and Universal Robots to deploy the Skild Brain. In April 2026 it acquired Zebra Technologies' robotics automation business, the former Fetch Robotics. Zebra received cash and an equity stake in Skild AI. Pathak has said the Fetch acquisition was primarily about acquiring deployment talent.
Funding
A $300 million Series A in July 2024, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, SoftBank Group and Bezos Expeditions, valued the company at $1.5 billion. An undisclosed Series B in mid-2025 valued it at about $4.5 billion, at a point when SoftBank was conducting a renewed robotics hunt. After reported talks with SoftBank and NVIDIA, Skild closed a Series C of close to $1.4 billion on 14 January 2026 at a valuation above $14 billion, led by SoftBank with NVentures, Macquarie Capital, Bezos Expeditions and strategic investors including LG, Schneider Electric, CommonSpirit and Salesforce Ventures. Pathak told Bloomberg in January 2026 that the company had raised more than $2 billion in total.
Where it sits
Skild does not sell robot hardware; its models are meant to run on machines built by others, a software-first position it shares with Physical Intelligence and Generalist AI, and one that contrasts with vertically integrated developers such as Figure and Tesla that pair proprietary hardware with in-house models. The Zebra deal is the company's clearest move so far from research results toward operating fleets.

S1
AnnouncedAI model · announced August 2026
Skild's flagship robotic foundation model, an in-context learner that executes previously unseen manipulation tasks of up to 10 minutes from a single video demonstration without fine-tuning.
LocoFormer
AnnouncedAI model
An in-context locomotion policy, released in 2025, that adapts to changes in a robot's body and environment by accumulating live experience in its prompt without gradient updates.
Skild Brain
Pilot deploymentAI model
A unified, "omni-bodied" robotics foundation model intended to control diverse robot embodiments — quadrupeds, humanoids, wheeled platforms and arms — across manipulation, locomotion and navigation.
