Tesla appears to be making room for Optimus in the same app that owners use for their cars and home energy equipment.

An analysis of Tesla app version 4.61.0 by Tesla App Updates (iOS) identifies dedicated Optimus charger references and an Optimus site type. It is a small software clue to how the humanoid might fit into Tesla’s wider product ecosystem, as work on its production infrastructure continues.

A charger identity and an energy-site entry

The account lists three charger-related identifiers: optimus_charger_id, createBaseChargerId_OptimusChargerId and ChargerId_OptimusChargerId. It also identifies SITE_TYPE_OPTIMUS within the app’s energy model.

The author interprets these as preparation for assigning an Optimus charger an identity and associating it with a site. The site-type entry, in turn, suggests the robot could be represented within the existing Tesla app rather than requiring an entirely separate application.

These are reported findings from a third-party decompilation. Humanoids Daily has reviewed the published analysis, but has not independently decompiled the app.

What the code leaves unanswered

A dedicated charger identifier does not reveal the charging hardware’s physical design, its electrical specifications or how the robot reaches it. The original analysis explicitly treats autonomous docking as speculation. It also distinguishes the site-type entry from any confirmed screen layout or set of robot commands.

Tesla North’s coverage of the update likewise describes the Optimus references as software groundwork that could remain dormant. Its report notes that Tesla has not published release notes explaining those entries.

For a household robot, charging and account management would be part of the everyday ownership experience. Preparing those systems can happen well before a product is ready for customers, however. An app reference cannot establish that the hardware or its autonomy is ready to ship.

Another part of the Optimus buildout

The software findings follow reports of new Optimus supplier audits in China and construction progress at Tesla’s dedicated Texas robot factory. They concern different parts of the same effort: sourcing components, creating manufacturing capacity and preparing tools to manage the eventual product.

Tesla’s Q2 2026 shareholder update described Optimus production lines being installed at Fremont and building construction underway in Texas. Initial robots were intended for training-data collection and further development through its Optimus Academy.

The new app references add a possible outline of the ownership software. They leave the larger questions—what customers will receive, what it will do independently and when it will arrive—for Tesla to answer.
