Origins and structure
UBTECH ROBOTICS CORP LTD was established in Shenzhen in March 2012 and listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 29 December 2023 under the code 9880, the first humanoid robot company to do so. Founder Zhou Jian, who appears in English-language company releases as James Zhou, remains chairman and chief executive. The company organises its work around three settings: industrial manufacturing, commercial service and home companionship.
The product range is wide for the sector: full-size Walker-series industrial humanoids; smaller educational and consumer machines including the Alpha, uKit and Yanshee lines; logistics hardware such as the Wali forklifts and the Chitu automated logistics vehicle; and, since 2026, a consumer humanoid brand, UWORLD.
The 2025 shift to full-size humanoids
FY2025 results published on 31 March 2026 showed revenue of RMB 2.001 billion, up 53.3%, with net loss narrowing to RMB 789.8 million. Full-size embodied-intelligence humanoids became the largest single revenue line at RMB 820.6 million, up 2,203.7% year on year, on 1,079 units delivered. UBTECH says more than 80% of those units went into industrial settings including automotive, smart logistics, 3C and semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace and industrial data collection, and that it also sold 12,759 sub-160cm humanoids, up 62.2%. Walker S2 mass production and delivery began in November 2025 with an order book above RMB 800 million. Annualised capacity for full-size humanoids passed 6,000 units by the end of 2025, with utilisation reported at under 20% — order conversion, not assembly, is the binding constraint.
Humanoids Daily has previously documented the customer base behind those figures: deployments at BYD, Foxconn and Geely, a Texas Instruments semiconductor programme, a logistics agreement with Honda Trading (China), and a year-long Walker S2 pilot at Rossmann's Burgwedel warehouse in Germany.
The consumer turn
On 30 June 2026 UBTECH launched the UWORLD U1, a full-size "ultra-bionic" companion humanoid sold in three configurations — U1 Lite, U1 Pro and U1 Ultra — priced from RMB 119,800, with 88 degrees of freedom and an emotion-oriented language model. The company said cumulative orders had passed 13,361 units at the launch event, with deliveries in China due from September 2026; as of late July those deliveries had not been independently verified. More than 50 full-size ultra-bionic variants, between 1.60m and 1.85m tall, were shown at the same event.
Capital and supply chain
UBTECH funds itself largely through the equity market. Chinese market data cited in April 2026 counted six H-share placements since listing, bringing cumulative fundraising including the IPO to about HK$8.691 billion; the November 2025 placement alone raised roughly HK$3.109 billion at HK$98.80 per share, with about 75% earmarked for investment in or acquisition of supply-chain businesses. In March 2026 UBTECH completed the transfer of a 29.99% stake in Shenzhen-listed Fenglong (002931.SZ), becoming its controlling shareholder under a wider 43% agreement worth about RMB 1.665 billion. In August 2025 it signed a US$1 billion strategic financing facility with Infini Capital.
Position
Counterpoint Research data reported by this publication put UBTECH fourth globally in first-half 2026 humanoid shipments, at roughly 1,000 units and 4.4% share, behind AGIBOT, Unitree and Galbot — a function of a portfolio weighted toward expensive full-size industrial machines rather than compact volume platforms. The company appeared at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing in August.
