AGIBOT says it has deployed 100 X2 humanoid robots across 100 ASD retail stores in China, giving the machines customer-facing roles in cookware sales and putting selected stores on a three-day livestream.

The September 28 announcement describes robots welcoming shoppers, discussing their needs and recommending products alongside human sales associates. It is another example of AGIBOT moving into public-facing venues, following its recently announced Chimelong theme-park deployment.

  • AGIBOT reports 100 X2 robots deployed across 100 stores operated by cookware and kitchenware company ASD.
  • The robots support reception and product recommendations, with staff handling promotions, inventory information and final purchases.
  • A September 28–30 livestream is scheduled to show stores in Wenling, Shanghai and Wuxi for ten hours each day.
  • The release does not disclose sales impact, intervention rates or the commercial terms of the deployment.

Selling cookware alongside people

The announced role is an assistant within the existing store team. X2 asks shoppers about factors such as household size, cooking habits and budget, then uses that information to suggest cookware and explain features. AGIBOT also lists store guidance among its functions.

One company-described interaction involved a family seeking a wok for Chinese stir-frying with a budget below RMB 1,000. The robot recommended an option, then passed the conversation to a human associate when the shoppers asked about promotions.

That handoff is an important part of the proposed workflow. A product conversation can draw on relatively stable information, while completing a purchase requires current store-specific details and responsibility for the transaction. The announced arrangement keeps staff involved at that point.

The release describes mobility and multimodal interaction, but it does not detail the system’s remote-support arrangements. It should therefore not be read as establishing that every interaction across the fleet is completed without human assistance.

A longer look inside working stores

The livestream runs from September 28 through September 30, with daily broadcasts scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in China. AGIBOT names Wenling, Shanghai and Wuxi as participating locations.

An extended broadcast can offer a more useful view of retail interaction than a short demonstration. Shoppers may interrupt, change their minds or ask questions outside the expected product discussion. How the robot responds—and when it asks a colleague to take over—matters as much as delivering a fluent introduction.

The broadcast schedule does not establish a ten-hour battery runtime, nor does footage from selected stores verify operations at all 100 locations. The announcement provides no fleet-wide uptime or customer-service measurements.

From production totals to places people encounter robots

The ASD rollout follows AGIBOT’s reported 20,000-robot production milestone. That figure covers several product families and measures cumulative manufacturing, rather than active deployments or sales.

The retail announcement provides a more specific account of where one model is being used. It also complements Chimelong, where AGIBOT announced more than 300 robots across entertainment, visitor assistance and hospitality roles. Both projects bring robots into settings where people encounter them during ordinary customer activities, rather than solely at robotics exhibitions.

For ASD, the practical test will be whether X2 improves the shopping experience and helps staff serve customers. Useful evidence would include the share of conversations that reach a helpful recommendation, staff time spent supporting the machines, and whether customer interest translates into purchases or repeat visits.

One hundred announced store placements gives AGIBOT a setting in which to gather that evidence. The release establishes the company’s claimed deployment scale and intended division of work; the business results remain to be shown.
