What it builds
NEURA Robotics is a Metzingen-based robotics manufacturer that describes its products as "cognitive" robots — machines that combine sensing, onboard AI and actuation in one device. Founded in 2019 by David Reger, the company designs and manufactures its robots in-house and sells across several form factors: the LARA and MAiRA collaborative arms and the MAV mobile platform, first shown publicly at automatica 2022; the MiPA service robot; a quadruped; and the 4NE1 humanoid. Software ties the portfolio together through Neuraverse, an ecosystem the company positions as an operating system and skills marketplace for its own and third-party hardware.
The humanoid line is now split into two products. At CES 2026 NEURA showed a next-generation 4NE1 styled with Studio F.A. Porsche, alongside a smaller 4NE1 Mini and the quadruped. The company's own store takes refundable €100 reservations for the 4NE1 Gen 3.5, which it says is expected to be available at the end of 2026, with 4NE1 Mini reservations aimed at research, education and entertainment buyers.
Technical approach
NEURA's stated differentiator is vertical integration — sensors, actuators and control electronics developed internally rather than sourced — paired with a data strategy built on physical training environments. Its NEURA Gyms concept, expanded through a joint facility with the Technical University of Munich at Munich Airport, is meant to generate real-world trajectories to complement simulation. A long-term collaboration with Qualcomm announced in March 2026 pairs Dragonwing robotics processors with NEURA's stack in a "brain and nervous system" reference architecture. Humanoid R&D was moved to a new Zurich development centre in late 2025, while assembly stays in Metzingen.
Commercial position
The company's clearest commercial anchor is industrial. Schaeffler agreed in November 2025 both to supply actuators and to deploy a mid-four-digit number of 4NE1 units by 2035, and NEURA's 4NE1 has run a warehouse picking pilot at BITZER under SAP's embodied AI programme. In October 2025 NEURA bought AGV specialist ek robotics, adding more than 300 employees and an installed intralogistics base; the acquired business operates as Neura Mobile Robotics GmbH while retaining the ek brand.
Funding has escalated quickly: €66 million in Series A (2024), €120 million in Series B led by Lingotto (January 2025), and a Series C of up to $1.4 billion announced on 10 June 2026, led by Tether with Qualcomm, Amazon, NVIDIA, Bosch, Schaeffler, imec.xpand, the European Investment Bank, Lingotto Horizon and InterAlpen Partners. NEURA says orders and its deployment pipeline exceed $1 billion and targets multi-million unit production by 2030; Bloomberg reported a roughly $7 billion valuation, which the company did not confirm.
Execution remains the open question. A 4NE1 Gen 3.5 running Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ10 reference design collapsed during a live Computex 2026 keynote in Taipei, an incident widely covered in the trade press weeks before the Series C was announced. Against Figure and 1X in the US and Unitree, AgiBot and UBTech in China, NEURA's distinguishing bet is breadth — cobots, AMRs, service robots and humanoids on one software layer — and deep ties to German industrial supply chains.
